Description

First UK edition, first impression. The first book in the Foundation Trilogy, which won the Hugo Award for best all-time series in 1966. The basis for the on-going Apple TV series. Original black cloth with silver lettering to spine. A few spots to edges, but much less than usual. A near fine copy. The original and unclipped dust jacket is, similarly, in excellent and clean condition with some rubbing in places, a small tear to the top edge of rear flap and one or two tiny nicks elsewhere that have been neatly and inconspicuously repaired. A rare edition of a science fiction classic, especially in such good condition.

About Foundation

Foundation is a seminal work of science fiction by Isaac Asimov. It is the first published installment of the Foundation series. The story unfolds over several centuries and follows the efforts of the psychohistorian Hari Seldon to preserve knowledge and culture in the face of the fall of the Galactic Empire.

Identifying the First Edition of Foundation

The first edition of Foundation by Isaac Asimov can typically be identified by its publisher, Gnome Press, and the lack of a dust jacket as it was released in 1951. Additionally, since it was printed in smaller numbers, first editions will have different binding and paper quality than later reprints.
