Ruled in pencil, three with pencil title /annotation to rear, one features two unrelated part-paintings to reverse side (board re-used). Together with a reference copy of the book (second printing). Paintings in fine condition, book near fine with light handling. This elegant hardback edition features an original introduction from the acclaimed thriller writer Ken Follett, and seven full-page colour plate illustrations by Lyndon Hayes, reproduced from these paintings. This is the first illustrated edition in book-form, following an illustrated American printing in a periodical publication. Original James Bond book illustrations are scarce; especially a complete suite such as this. From the collection of Fleming bibliographer Jon Gilbert, signed in pencil within the book. About Live and Let Die

Live and Let Die is the second novel in Ian Fleming's James Bond series of stories, and is set in London, the US and Jamaica. It was first published in the UK by Jonathan Cape on 5 April 1954. In the novel, Bond must defeat a dangerous drug lord with plans to finance Soviet espionage in America. The story was developed during Fleming's second stay in Jamaica, where he had extensive knowledge of the local scenery, wildlife, and underworld.
