Light rubbing to the cloth at the edges with a couple of faint spots to the front board. Red top stain. Purple bookseller's stamp to the rear endpaper. Book clean throughout, in a tight binding, only very lightly cocked. In the rare second issue dust jacket which has the price 3/6 on the spine, several large chips to the bottom edges, shallow chipping to the head of the spine, one large piece missing at the spine foot about 2 inches in size and a large tear along the front flap fold.

Payment Deferred is a crime novel by C. S. Forester, first published in 1926. It tells the story of a bank clerk who embezzles a large sum of money, then enters a suspenseful cat-and-mouse game with law enforcement and his own conscience.

The first edition can be identified by the publisher's name and the date 1926 on the title page.
