First edition thus, slipcased two volume hardcover set, both of the books have a hint of wear to their spine ends, and Volume II has a light bump to the lower corner of its front cover. Otherwise, this is a solid, tight, clean and bright, NF/VG+ set in a VG+ slipcase, which has a bump to the lower corners of the right panel, a thin split starting to the tail of the back panel, and some areas of light rubbing to each side. The Gulag Archipelago is a three-volume, non-fiction work by Russian writer Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn that was first published in 1973. It covers the Soviet Union's forced labor camp system. The extensive work combines historical research, Solzhenitsyn's own experiences as a Gulag prisoner, and the testimonies of other inmates to describe the brutalities of the Gulag.
