First edition, first impression, first state, of the third Bond book, in an exceptionally bright dust jacket, with none of the fading or toning so common with this publication. The novel was adapted into a film in 1979, starring Roger Moore.
This copy is from the library of the Fleming bibliographer Jon Gilbert, with his bookplate and signed catalogue description loosely inserted. He notes that the present copy is in the first state, printed on thinner paper stock and with the misprint "shoo" for "shoot" on page 10, line 31.
Octavo. Original black boards (Gilbert's binding A), spine and front cover lettered in silver. With dust jacket. Housed in a custom black quarter morocco folding box.
Jacket remarkably fresh and unfaded, just a hint of foxing to rear panel and verso, price intact: a fine copy in fine jacket.
Gilbert A3a (1.1).
