Bindings of the set in poor to fair condition, though all intact; dark grey cloth frayed and chipped, missing piece (still usable for rebacking or rebinding); textblocks generally in good condition; age toned, with some foxing; Vol. 1 (which contains Jefferson's autobiography) has a marginal water stain and contains quite a bit of pencil marginalia by historian David McCullough.
