First Edition in Fine condition with clean pages and bright color. DJ has the correct $3.50 price with the code 40-80 printed on the bottom flap; the lower corner of front flap is clipped as in all copies but the 1163 is present indicating that the book was published November, 1963. The dust jacket front flap has the correct paragraph blurbs about the book and the back flap of the DJ has the paragraph blurbs about the author. The library congress number 63-21253 is printed on the title page. This is a true first edition, as the Library of Congress catalog number was issued in November 1963 and so on the first printings in 1964, but not after that. The binding is tight and the boards are crisp. The pages are clean NO writing, marks or bookplates in the book. Stunning illustrations. Caldecott Winner in 1964 and voted Best Children's Book Ever Written in 2023 by the BBC.

The book has been adapted into other media several times, including an animated short in 1973 (with an updated version in 1988), a 1980 opera, and a live-action 2009 feature-film adaptation. The book tells the story of Max, a young boy who dresses up as a wolf and uses his imagination to travel to a wild forest where he meets creatures called Wild Things.
