The third collected edition of Chaucer's works and the second to be edited by William Thynne. ESTC S107200, lacking the final leaf and therefore the colophon but this copy is the same as the one printed by Richard Grafton for John Reynes visible on the Internet Archive.
Lacking 11 leaves : Aii & Aiii, Bi [divisional title to the Canterbury Tales], Ci [woodcut of the Knight and the start of his tale], E3 [end of the Miller's Tale], E4 [woodcut of the Reeve and the start of his tale], Ss3 [divisional title page for Boethius], Ss4 [first text leaf of Boethius], 2S1 [leaf 361], 2S6 [leaf 366], and 2T6 [final text leaf and colophon]. Divisional title to Romance of the Rose is present. 5 leaves have been supplied from another copy. 3 leaves are torn with no loss of text.
Occasional small paper repairs, E1 tipped in. Majority of pages are remarkably clean but there are many with stains or marks. Title page is detached, trimmed and laid down. An incomplete but an early Chaucer with most of the charming woodcuts still present. Size: 32cm by 22.5 cm. Boards present but worn and loose. More images available on request.
