Published in 1902, this is the uncommon fourth edition of H G Wells fantasy tale of an Angel's appearance in Victorian England, this was a creature of fantasy rather than a religious angel. The fourth edition is also I believe the First illustrated edition of the story with a frontispiece by the Art Nouveau artist and book illustrator Amelia Bauerle (Amalie Mathilde Bauerle 1873-1916) the daughter of the German artist Karl Wilhelm Bauerle. She later anglicised her name to Amelia Bowerley. The book is accompanied with the original artwork drawing for the frontispiece, done on art card measuring 14.5 inches by 10.75 inches approx., with the actual drawing measuring 8.5 inches by 6.5 inches approx., the image was reduced to under half that size for the book, which is a much smaller size than the First Edition. The artwork has some marking to borders and reverse, else in good condition as seen, the book itself has a small, lightened mark to the front cover, and some edge wear, internally some noticeable foxing else in good general condition.

The Wonderful Visit is a novel by H.G. Wells, first published in 1895. The story reflects Wells's own socialist views and is notably lighter in tone than some of his more famous science fiction works. It tells the story of a fallen angel who visits the contemporary (Victorian) English countryside and is both humanized and corrupted by his earthly experiences.
