Measuring approximately 8.5" x 6", with 471 numbered pages. This book is in very good condition. Moderate wear to the board eges, with some discoloration at the bottom of the spine. Previous owner's bookplate on the front pastedown. Dust jacket is in fair condition. Heavy chipping and tearing to the spine ends and extremities. "For Whom the Bell Tolls" is one of Hemingway's biggest literary triumphs. Written in 1939 and finished in 1940, the first edition was published in October of that year, with a print run of 75,000 copies. The novel was inspired by Hemingway's experiences as a journalist in Spain during its civil war.
