8vo. First editions. Titus Groan is in a 'Second Impression' dust-wrapper. Original red cloth, gilt. Title page headpieces and d/ws by the author. Titus Groan: Covers a little faded. Hatchards label to the front pastedown. Unclipped jacket, (with reviews on the front flap, 'Second Impression' and publisher's sticker giving the price as '18/-'NET'), is a little tanned as usual, with tiny loss to the spine ends and corner tips. There is a tear to the bottom of the front joint which extends across the spine. Very good + in very good - d/w. Gormenghast: Unclipped jacket is a little tanned, with tiny loss to the spine ends and corner tips and a few nicks to the top and bottom edges. Fine in near fine d/w. Titus Alone: Claude Gill bookseller's label to the front pastedown. Unclipped jacket is very slightly tanned on the spine. Fine in fine d/w. The 'Gormenghast' trilogy introduces Titus, the seventy-seventh Earl of Groan, and the riotous massing of the castle in which stultified tradition staggers on and provides room enough for the murderous rivalry of Flay and Swelter and the evil designs of Steerpike. Will the child survive to find a world beyond the walls of Gormenghast? With the exception of the torn, 'Second Impression' dust-wrapper on Titus Groan, this is a very presentable set.
