First U.S. edition. Traven's most famous novel and his second book published in America. This edition was prepared from Traven's English-language manuscript, but supposedly was heavily rewritten by Knopf's editorial staff. A fine copy in near fine pictorial dust jacket (designed by Wetherill) with the original price of $2.50 on the front flap. Unlike most other copies on the market, this jacket has NO restoration. Housed in a custom-made clamshell case.

The Treasure of the Sierra Madre is a novel by B. Traven, originally published in 1927, which tells the story of three down-and-out men who, seeking gold, face both perils and moral dilemmas in the Sierra Madre mountains.
