First English edition. In eight "Bookes" bound together. The book has been rebound in the distant past, in 3/4 leather over marbled-paper boards. The original end-sheets are missing from the re-binding; replaced with newer sheets. [12], 222 pages. The binding is worn. The front board is detached, but present; and the rear board partially detached. The pages are closely trimmed - the trimming has clipped the top bit of the header on one leaf (217/218) ; other leaves are close, but not affecting the text. The title page, the first four prelim leaves, and the last page have old repairs; the title page being rebacked with another sheet. A previous owners inkstamp & inked stylized initials on the 1st blank; the same owners inkstamp & a date-stamp on the rear pastedown; and a different name pencilled on the 2nd blank. Else the pages are age-toned, lightly-foxed, but clean. ; 26A; 222 pages.
