First edition and first printing. Hardcover. 242 pages. McCarthy's somewhat uncommon second book. A very dark novel that while well regarded was met with initial indifference. It was only after the publication of "Blood Meridian" and "All the Pretty Horses" that McCarthy garnered the attention he so richly deserved. A tight near fine copy in paper covered boards with a cloth spine with some slight crimping to the base of the spine and in an about very good dust jacket with about a quarter of an inch of chipping to the top of the spine and numerous other smaller chips and some tears and some tape repairs to the verso. Still, a solid copy of this powerful novel.
