Description

Very good first edition book in very good minus dust jacket. Blue cloth covered boards with white text on spine. Upper external page edges are orange-tinted. Stain on upper left corner of front board panel. Bump on right side and corner at head of board spine. Upper- and lower-most board edges are faded. Small bump on lower right front fore-edge corner. Lower page edges are soiled. Book is internally clean. Dust jacket is soiled overall with light yellowing (sunned). Head of jacket spine and adjacent upper edges of front and back panel are chipped with irregular loss of 2 1/2" by up to 3/8" on the back corner and 2 adjacent closed tears of 3/8" and 1/4". Tail of jacket spine has loss on back corner of 3/8" by 3/8" and loss along lower edge of 1 1/4" by up to 1/8". Front panel has 1/4" closed vertical tear along the edge above the "H". Fore-edge folds are creased. Front fore-edge corners and lower back fore-edge corner are rubbed with loss of approx. 1/16". Upper left fore-edge corner has loss of 1/4" by 1/2". Lower edge on back panel has horizontal creasing parallel to the edge. Upper corners on inside flaps have tiny chips. Catch-22 is a satirical war novel by American author Joseph Heller, first published in 1961. The novel is set during World War II, from 1942 to 1944, and follows Captain John Yossarian, a U.S. Army Air Forces B-25 bombardier, and the other airmen in the camp, who attempt to maintain their sanity while fulfilling their service requirements so that they can return home.
