First Edition. Hardcover. Virginia Woolf-Vanessa Bell. First Edition. This Rare Edition of MONDAY OR TUESDAY has 4 full page black and white woodcuts illustrated by VANESSA BELL Woolf's elder sister. Being one of a small 1,000 copy print run. 8vo. pp. 91 + [i] advertisement. Publisher's decorated white paper boards with plain brick coloured cloth spine. A fine example, the back panel unusually clean for this title. Contents very nice with negligible offsetting from the Vanessa Bell woodcuts to opposite text pages. (the usual offsetting of most copies noted in Kunitz & Haycraft, p. 1549). This collection of 8 short stories heralded the breakthrough in Woolf's modernist style. Wonderful Deco style small bookplate on the front pastedown of the previous owner, publisher Donald S. Friede by Mexican artist Miguel Covarrubias exclusively created for him (husband of the food author M. F. K. Fisher.) In a Custom black cloth slipcase with the Hogarth Press wolf colophon raised on the side. Kirkpatrick and Clarke A5a. Woolmer 17. A superior example. Quite Nice Indeed.
