Description

This unique edition with all the plates etched by Ruskin (Two bitten in Dijon during his honeymoon) is an extraordinary work of art. Ruskin says he will have all future authorized editions engraved by R.B. Cuff, but this edition with its mezzotint effects is special. (For the authorized Cuff edition, see item ID 98: Seven Lamps., New Edition. 1880.) This 1849 Ruskin work has had its spine rebound in leather; the embossed boards and edges are, apart from a little scuffing and some small spots, in good condition. There are two previous owner's names. Though there is slight browning on the edges of some of the pages, they do not affect the plates which are in fine condition.
