For diehard collectors of the Library of America series, here is the Holy Grail: a superb, pristine copy of the First Printing, which has perhaps the goofiest typo in the annals of modern publishing. On the title page, in large, boldface type, the author is identified as Herman Meville. Accompanied by a letter (a bit tattered around the edges) from the Library of America s Production Manager, apologizing for the error, but also noting that this original first printing with the uncorrected title page stands to be a rarity and a collector s piece some day.
