Ayn-inscibed to her husband: "my little Cubby" Signed "Ayn" only, this copy from Ayn Rand's PERSAONAL library, inscribed by Rand to her actor-husband Frank O'Connor on August 6, 1934, (more than a decade before her fame), a First Edition Presentation Copy of Noel Coward's Play Parade, including seven of Coward's plays in which O'Connor played roles. Rand's charming, affectionate inscription reads in full: "To my little Cubby -- one of his future parts --but not the only one! Ayn 8-6-34." ("Cubby" was Ayn's nickname for husband Frank.) Book has handwritten notes by O'Connor on front flyleaf and highlighting of the characters' names in 2 plays. Original publisher's cloth binding. Soiling and edgewear to spine and boards. Hinges cracked but holding. Very rare and desirable inscribed by Rand to her husband, two years before she published We the Living. We the Living is the first novel published by the American author Ayn Rand. Originally completed in 1930, it was first published in 1936 by Macmillan Publishers. The novel is a depiction of life in post-revolutionary Russia and Rand’s criticism of the Soviet system. It follows the story of Kira Argounova, a young woman who struggles for her individuality in a collectivized society.
