Original ink and color crayon drawing of Pepito the Bad Hat. This lovely drawing measures 12 1/4 x 9 1/2 inches and is SIGNED by Ludwig Bemelmans below the image. Introduced in Madeline and the Bad Hat (1956), Pepito the Spanish Ambassador's son gets into all sorts of mischief before little Madeline straightens him out. The Bad Hat is almost as beloved as red-headed Madeline herself. This picture was one of several "portraits" of the famous characters Ludwig Bemelmans painted for exhibition in the late 1950s.
