1891c. 1st American Edition. Text in English. 272 pages plus ads. Light green boads; dark green cloth backed. Dark green lettering on front board, and gilt lettering on spine; gilt lettering bright. Page following copyright page states that this is the sole authorized English translation. Issued simultaneously with the publication of the original in Copenhagen. Edmund Gosse. 1890. Front endpaper reads "Sample Volume Henrik Ibsen's Works", with prices for various bindings. Dark green cloth sample attached to rep. Cloth rubbed through at tips of corners. Spine extremeties bumped, with some rubbing & short (1/8") tears. Light surface rubbing, with a small spot of soil on the front board. Front hinge starting; tender. Some spine lean. 2" blue mark on ffep. Endpapers just a bit age-toned, wih some transfer from the green cloth onto the frep. Else pages clean and unmarked. Text block VG. Several flaws, but overall a decent copy of a very difficult to find title. ; TFH7D; 7.5 x 5".
