Description

London: Longmans, Green, And Co, 1896. New and Revised Edition. Near Fine. New and revised edition. A presentation copy signed and inscribed by H. Rider Haggard to Mrs. Pitt on the half-title page. It has been convincingly suggested that the "Mrs. Pitt" to whom Haggard has inscribed others of his works to is the 19th century British children's author Sarah Pitt. Bound in publisher's deep maroon cloth stamped in silver. Near Fine with light wear to clot at extremities and several light stains, pages lightly toned with sporadic light foxing. A lovely copy.

About She: A History of Adventure

This novel follows the journey of Horace Holly and his ward Leo Vincey to a lost kingdom in Africa, where they encounter Ayesha, or 'She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed', an extraordinarily beautiful and powerful woman who has waited 2000 years for the rebirth of her lover.
