The printers listed are a prominent group of publishers of the time, including the Rivingtons, Payne, Owen, and others. Contemporary full leather, spines restored, early bookplate, and papers, foxing and toning. A few pages stained along edges, title pages restored and backed, repairs to a few leaves. A pair of leaves in volume 1 more clearly soiled and restored by binder. Both volumes have occasional soiling and wear to text corners. A little cracking to front hinge near top. Overall books in good condition. Size: 4to - over 9�" - 12" tall.

Samuel Johnson's 'A Dictionary of the English Language' is among the most influential dictionaries in the history of the English language. First published on 15 April 1755, the dictionary offered comprehensive definitions and illustrative examples of usage.
