Description

New York: Brentano, 1914. Near fine.. Lavish limited US edition of the striking portfolio version of Rackham's selected color plates from PETER PAN IN KENSINGTON GARDENS. The detail and colors are breathtaking, and the large size of the plates does justice to Rackham's mastery. The plates are the sizes of the original art executed by Rackham and, in some cases, larger. Issued in a format meant for owners to be able to frame the plates for display, it is rare to find it complete. A great copy of a beautiful book. 21.5'' x 16''. Half tan cloth with yellow silk moire. 12 large color plates mounted in mattes with lettered tissue guards. Lacking the ribbon ties on cover edges and very slight cover soil. Plates all intact and vivid.

About Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens

Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens is one of J.M. Barrie's works that features the character Peter Pan, offering a backstory to the beloved 'boy who wouldn't grow up.' Originally part of Barrie's book 'The Little White Bird' (1902), these chapters were later republished as a stand-alone story detailing Peter's adventures in London's famous Kensington Gardens. It's a tale of fantasy that explores themes of childhood innocence and escapism.
