A crisp, clean, very good or slightly better copy in the publisher's pale red cloth, sun-faded on the spine, but with the black stamping still rich. Some dust-soiling to the edges of the boards. Inner hinges tender, but intact. A generally fresh, unmarked example. The copyright page states "First published 1914, new impression 1916." Very uncommon, especially in reasonably nice condition.

Demons, also known as The Devils or The Possessed, is a novel by Fyodor Dostoevsky first published in the journal The Russian Messenger in serial form in 1871-1872. It is considered one of Dostoevsky's masterpieces and a profound and prophetic examination of the moral anarchy that results when a society's intelligentsia abandons its belief in God.
