(BURGESS, Anthony and Stanley Kubrick) Stanley Kubrick's Clockwork Orange, based on the Novel by Anthony Burgess. Abelard-Schuman, 1971. 9"x 6", ca. 150 (unpaginated) pp. Cloth, with dustjacket. Fine copy in a VG dustjacket. This is basically the movie told in stills, with dialogue and narration. [++] SIGNED presentation by Burgess. Note: this book was signed for me by Burgess. Initially Mr. Burgess reacted viscerally--"Oh, THAT horrid thing", he said, and explained that he didn't want to sign it, it wasn't his movie. I did point out that it was his book, so he laughed, scribbled through Kubrick's name (on the title page) a bit, and signed it over. It is a nice story about Burgess and what he thought of the movie. Why am I selling it? I don't need this anymore, after probably 40 years--it is time for it to go elsewhere.

A Clockwork Orange is a dystopian novel by English writer Anthony Burgess, published in 1962. It is set in a near-future society that has a youth subculture of extreme violence. The teenage protagonist, Alex, narrates his violent exploits and his experiences with state authorities intent on reforming him.
