Description

This is a copy not of the first edition, but the second corrected and vermehrte Auflage (reminds of Brecht s no less sexist und sie vermehrte mich! ). Wonderful condition throughout, unread apparently; spine restored, thus without text lettering, yet fully intact fine condition original front and back covers. Full of Freud s insistence that it s the process of patient and analyst (remembering, speaking, talking cure, etc.) followed by its obverse - ach, steps up means intercourse, steps down means intercourse, no steps means no intercourse - unintentionally hilarious. And, of course, some wonderful psychoanalytic theoretical insights that have become conventions, ergo (ideologically) real. Q.E.D. No copy on internet, though it isn t that rare; of the first edition there were only 600 copies which sold very slowly apparently: it s neither a fun read, like Anatomy of Melancholy or Finnegans Wake or Tristram Shandy or Tender Buttons nor a very deep one like The Castle or Texts for Nothing or Mrs. Dalloway or Grundrisse. Die Freude sei anderswo. Wonderful condition throughout, unread apparently; spine restored, thus without text lettering, yet fully intact fine condition original front and back covers.

About Die Traumdeutung

Die Traumdeutung, which translates as 'The Interpretation of Dreams', is one of the seminal works of psychoanalysis literature. Written by Sigmund Freud, it introduces his theory of the unconscious with respect to dream interpretation and also discusses what would later become the theory of the Oedipus complex. Freud revised the book at least eight times and, in the third edition, added an extensive section which treated dream symbolism very literally, following the influence of Wilhelm Stekel.
