First edition, first printing. Bound in publisher's pinkish grey ribbed cloth ruled in blind with titles stamped in gilt, pictorial onlay to front cover. Near Fine with light lean to spine, light rubbing and soiling to covers; small bookseller ticket to front free endpaper, pages toned and those adjacent to illustrated plates are foxed, rear inner hinge repaired. A lovely copy of the first printing of the author's first book, the story of a young orphan girl sent to Prince Edward Island, inspired in part by Montgomery's own upbringing.
