Top edge brown. Illustrated with a photograph of the author as a baby, and line drawings throughout by Jill Bennett. An excellent near fine copy, the binding square and firm with some slight bumps to the spine. The contents, are clean throughout and without previous owner's marks. Complete with the bright original dustwrapper that is lightly rubbed and nicked at the spine tips and corners but has escaped the habitual fading of the spine. Correctly priced £2.25 net to the front flap. An attractive example. Inscribed by the author in blue ink on the front endpaper "To Joanne / With love / Roald Dahl / 1976". Danny, the Champion of the World is a 1975 children's book by Roald Dahl. The plot centers on a young English boy named Danny and his father, William, who live in a Gypsy caravan fixing cars for a living and partake in poaching pheasants. It is one of Dahl's novels that is not based on a fantastical premise and tends to be considered one of his stories grounded more in reality.

Look for the words 'First Edition' along with the date on the copyright page. The publisher at the time was Jonathan Cape, and absence of subsequent reprint or edition mentions would indicate a first edition.
