The unclipped wrapper is bright, with some sunbathing. Includes a tipped in AUTOGRAPH of the author. First edition of this 1950s children's classic about a young married couple with Dalmatians whose canine family grows, quite by accident, to 101. The story immediately captured readers with its delightfully evil villain, Cruella de Vil, as well as its imaginative depiction of the social life of dogs. Walt Disney Studios acquired the rights and turned the story into a very successful feature-length film in 1961. The Starlight Barking - London: Heinemann, 1967. First Edition. 145pp. Color loss to the spine, some rubbing / a few spots on the boards, and foxing on top edge of text block. Dust Wrapper is bright, with a hint of color loss and modest chipping. INSCRIBED by the author; To Ursula Howells from Dodiie Smith "Dear Octopus", Theatre Royal, Haymarket, 1967'. The inscription refers to Smith's play 'Dear Octopus', which was revived in 1967. Signed examples are rare. Little-known sequel to the author's 101 Dalmatians. Pongo, Perdita, and their 99 wards awake to find that only dogs are awake in England, and a difficult choice lays before them.
