Finely illustrated by Rudyard Kipling with 22 full page mono plates plus 12 smaller decorative chapter initials. A fine, clean copy in a fine recent leather binding by Bayntun - Riviere of Bath. Full deep red morocco, the spine with raised bands, each decorated with three gilt circles. Compartments ruled, lettered and decorated with circular elephant motifs in gilt. Gilt Elephant and palm tree design within a single ruled border on front board. Rear board with gilt ruled border. Board edges with decorative gilt roll. Turn-ins with double ruled liines and floral corner pieces in gilt. Marbled endpapers. Original decorative front board bound in at the rear. All edges gilt. Marbled endpapers. A fine and beautifully bound copy of Kipling's famous collection of twelve stories and twelve poems, including "How the Camel Got His Hump" and "How the Leopard Got His Spots." .
