This copy is inscribed across the title page opening to painter Robert La Vigne, an old friend from the "Paris of the West" and the circle of poets and artists in 1950s San Francisco, abundantly decorated with a drawing of a seated Buddha, an "AH" in a cloud, scattered skulls and flowers and stars of David: "for Robert La Vigne Fruition of 3 decades experience see yr visage page 149 in group Old lovers yet may have / All that time denied / Grave is heaped upon grave / That they be satisfied Yeats" On the title page beneath beneath a "hairy dragon w/4 feet in air" and a lightning bolt, "Allen Ginsberg / June 6, 1988 / New York" Robert La Vigne (1928 2014), Idaho-born artist and stage designer, was the portrait painter to the Beats and a lover of Peter Orlvosky, who became the long time companion of Allen Ginsberg. He appears in a group photograph taken in San Francisco by Ginsberg, along with Neal Cassady, Orlovsky, and Lawrence Ferlinghetti that appears at page 149. Tan cloth binding.
