First edition, first printing of McCarthy's second novel. New York: Random House, 1968. Publisher's original half-cloth over paper boards; pp. (vi), 242, [1]. Presumed ex-library, with a pocket or bookplate removed from the flyleaf, although no other library indications present to book or jacket. Binding remains sturdy and square, light shelfwear and rubbing to boards. The price-clipped dust jacet is in about near fine condition, showing trace of edgewear with a couple closed tears. Presents well in archival mylar.

Outer Dark is a novel by Cormac McCarthy, published in 1968. It tells the story of a woman named Rinthy who gives birth to her brother's child and the subsequent events that unfold as they drift separately through an unforgiving landscape. The novel is noted for its explorations of human morality and its stark and lyrical prose.
