Description

With Decorations by Ernest H. Shepard. London: Methuen & Co., (1926). Original green cloth pictorially decorated in gilt. First Edition of Milne's classic, featuring Eeyore, Piglet, Kanga, Roo, Owl and of course Pooh and Christopher Robin. Included are some of the best-known tales, such as "Pooh goes visiting and gets into a tight place," "Eeyore loses a tail and Pooh finds one" and "Piglet meets a heffalump." This was the second (and best-known) of the four Milne/Shepard collaborations, published two years after the vastly successful volume of verse WHEN WE WERE VERY YOUNG. This copy is in near-fine condition (very slight rubbing at the extremities, a couple of early signatures at the top of the cartographic front endpaper) -- albeit without dustjacket. NCBEL IV 671.

About Winnie-the-Pooh

Winnie-the-Pooh, also called Pooh Bear, is a fictional anthropomorphic teddy bear created by English author A.A. Milne. The first collection of stories about the character was the book 'Winnie-the-Pooh' (1926), and this was followed by 'The House at Pooh Corner' (1928). Milne also included a poem about the bear in the children's verse book 'When We Were Very Young' (1924) and many more in 'Now We Are Six' (1927). All four volumes were illustrated by E.H. Shepard.
