Description

(London: Jonathan Cape 1975). Publisher's terracotta boards with gilt spine lettering. A near fine copy in like dustwrapper. The book itself has slight colour loss (approx 5%) to the top-stain and there are a few minute spots of foxing (hardly worth mentioning) along the text block edges in the early stages of development. No inscriptions. The 2.25 net dustwrapper has no fading to the spine but the top of the spine is a little creased (doesn't show on the face side, only the reverse) with the laminate slightly rubbed away on the top right corner (1mm X 10mm) and on the top corner of the front flap (2mm X 3mm). There is also a laminate chip on the front panel (3mm X 3mm). A very decent example. The basis for the 1989 TV adaptation starring Robbie Coltrane and Jeremy Irons. Photographs/scans available upon request.

About Danny, the Champion of the World

Danny, the Champion of the World is a 1975 children's book by Roald Dahl. The plot centers on a young English boy named Danny and his father, William, who live in a Gypsy caravan fixing cars for a living and partake in poaching pheasants. It is one of Dahl's novels that is not based on a fantastical premise and tends to be considered one of his stories grounded more in reality.
