First edition, first print, Geoffrey Bles, 1950. A very good copy in the original cloth (not re-bound) of this very hard to find work of classic children's fantasy fiction. Cloth of boards is intact with no fraying or rubbed edges or corners. Spine is sunned, with spots; marks to cloth of lower board. The book has a reading lean. Note the cloth is greener than the photographs suggest as they have captured a lighter shade. Internally, the book is very clean, with very little spotting and no ownership name. Most pages are very clean; mark to pages 160-161. Short closed edge tears to pages 113, 97 and 155. Small nicks to top of a couple of pages. Otherwise internally very clean and fresh. No dog-eared pages. No jacket. A very good copy.

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is a fantasy novel for children by C. S. Lewis, published by Geoffrey Bles in 1950. It is the first published and best known of seven novels in The Chronicles of Narnia (1950–1956). Among all the author's books, it is also the most widely held in libraries. Although it was written as well as published first in the series, it is volume two in recent editions, which are sequenced by the stories' chronology (the events of The Magician's Nephew take precedence).
