Uncorrected Proof of the First UK Edition in PROOF ONLY dustwrapper designed by Raymond Hawkey. A fine copy in the publisher s pale green wrappers marked Uncorrected Proof to the front cover and Ebenezer Baylis & Son, Ltd. on the back cover. The wraps are in the usual Cape design with the Jonathan Cape logo(s) displayed prominently. The PROOF dustwrapper has "PROOF ONLY/ PROVISIONAL PUBLICATION DATE/ September 14th, 1964" to the rear flap. NB: The design of the PROOF dustwrapper is completely different to the first edition. Both the PROOF dustwrapper and the PROOF are in fine condition. Very scarce with these attributes. A remarkable survival. This copy would grace any Deighton collection.
