Description

Unpaginated with 26 full page color plates. This is the 1983 first French edition published in Paris. Contents are bbeautifully tight & clean. The glossy pictorial boards are very bright, clean, square, without rubbing or edgewear. No dust jacker (as iissued?) On the fist blank endpaper drawn in black ink is an original sketch of a Wild Thing with the inscription "For Sally~ Mit Liebe!; avec amour!; Je T'Aime" And under his feet, it is dated "Dec.9, 84" SIGNED under the title/.The drawing measure 4 1/2 by 3 inches. Sally was a friend and publisher who worked with Sendak over years on various productions. A wonderful association copy with a full-figured Wild Thing doing his scary dance thing. Where the Wild Things Are is a 1963 children's picture book by American writer and illustrator Maurice Sendak, originally published by Harper & Row. The book has been adapted into other media several times, including an animated short in 1973 (with an updated version in 1988), a 1980 opera, and a live-action 2009 feature-film adaptation. The book tells the story of Max, a young boy who dresses up as a wolf and uses his imagination to travel to a wild forest where he meets creatures called Wild Things.
