Housed in a bespoke black cloth clamshell to a uniform design by Gilbert. The recipient is Marion 'Oatsie' Leiter, a close friend of the author whose name Fleming had appropriated for James Bond's trusted ally Felix Leiter of the CIA and Pinkerton's Detective Agency. Marion Leiter had recommended the James Bond novels to her friend Senator John F. Kennedy while recovering from an operation, and she subsequently hosted a dinner so both men could meet. For Your Eyes Only is a collection of short stories by the British author Ian Fleming, featuring the fictional British Secret Service agent Commander James Bond. The collection includes five short stories: 'From a View to a Kill', 'For Your Eyes Only', 'Quantum of Solace', 'Risico', and 'The Hildebrand Rarity'. It is notable for including elements that were adapted into the James Bond films.
