2 volumes. xlvi, 210, [5]; [4], 227, [1] pp. 15.7 x 9.8 cm (6½ x 3½"), full green levant morocco ruled in gilt, spine lettered & tooled in gilt with a petal design, raised bands, gilt ruled turn-ins, all edges gilt; signed "The Doves Bindery 1894" in lower turn-in at rear of each volume. Housed in modern custom folding cloth case with morocco label. First Complete Edition (comprising the second edition of the first volume, and the first edition, first issue of the second volume). The second volume with the first state issue points: p. 209 with last word of footnote in the middle of the page; p. 210 with 10 lines only; p. 211 with 19 lines, ending with "he thought again"; p. 212 with 19 lines, beginning with "And his heart fail'd him". Vol. II with expert and nearly indiscernible restoration and retooling to the top compartment of the spine strip; some very slight shelf rubbing to bindings; offset to margins of free endpapers from the turn-ins, light foxing to endpapers and flyleaves.
