First edition thus; 6 vols, 8vo (200 x 130 mm); 144 colour illustrations by Brock (twenty four in each), a few minor, peripheral spots (not affecting text), otherwise near-fine; near contemporary half blue calf over cloth by Mawson, Swan and Morgan, Ltd, the Royal Exchange, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, their label to inside each upper board, marbled endpapers and top edge gilt, spines uniformly faded, general toning and light soiling, more evidetn to cloth boards, otherwise very good and sound. C.E. Brock originally illustrated Pride and Prejudice for Macmillan in 1895, with black and white line drawings. He then collaborated with his brother H.M. Brock for a set published by Dent in 1898. This set is illustrated entirely by C.E. Brock, who was a renowned water-colourist.
