Description

Liber Celeberrimus omnibus Fere Liberis Notus Nunc Primum de Anglico Sermone in Latinum Conversus Auctore Alexandro Lenardo. [Privately printed] Sao Paolo, Brazil 1958. 100 pages. Bound in a recent, full red morocco binding with line ornamentation in gilt and pine with raised bands, title and stamps in gilt. Name on titlepage. * Extremely scarce. Only printed in 100 copies on very fragile paper. This makes it one of the most scarce and collectible important Poohiana. ** The first translation of Winnie the Pooh from English to Latin, made by an Hungarian doctor in Italy, later on printed by a Norwegian typographer at an Italian newspaper in Brazil. *** The zenith of nerdishness, but also the ingenious canonization of Milne's children's classic: The Latin language more than indicates Pooh's rightful position among the world's greatest works of fiction.

About Winnie-the-Pooh

Winnie-the-Pooh, also called Pooh Bear, is a fictional anthropomorphic teddy bear created by English author A.A. Milne. The first collection of stories about the character was the book 'Winnie-the-Pooh' (1926), and this was followed by 'The House at Pooh Corner' (1928). Milne also included a poem about the bear in the children's verse book 'When We Were Very Young' (1924) and many more in 'Now We Are Six' (1927). All four volumes were illustrated by E.H. Shepard.
