First edition thus. Cloth-bound; hardcover; octavo (18.5cm x 12cm x 3.5cm); pp. xxvi, 504. English text with an introduction by Joseph Jacobs and illustrations throughout by Chris Hammond. Publisher's original blue cloth elaborately blocked and lettered in gilt to front cover and spine; all page edges gilt; dark blue coated endpapers; half-title; illustrated with full page and vignette engravings. Condition: VERY GOOD. Binding secure with a slight lean, the joints and hinges intact. Covers beautifully preserved with very slight bumping to spine ends. Contents largely very clean, with a nice prize plate to front pastedown and a pencil inscription to front endpapers. Scarce thus.
