About The Dispossessed

The Dispossessed: An Ambiguous Utopia is a novel by American author Ursula K. Le Guin, set in the same fictional universe as that of The Left Hand of Darkness (the Hainish Cycle). It was first published in 1974 and is a tale of two planets, Urras and Anarres, and the lives of their inhabitants, focusing on the themes of anarchism, isolation, and society. The book's protagonist, Shevek, is a physicist from Anarres who challenges and explores the societal norms of both worlds.
