Chicago: A.C. McClurg and Co, 1914. First Edition. Octavo. First printing. This is the author's first Tarzan book. 400(1)pp., no illustrations or ads. First printing with the W.F. Hall printing co. on verso of the title page in old English lettering, bound in maroon cloth lettered in gilt, ruled in blind, spine lettering gilt, no acorn on spine. A few spots to the upper board with a bit of gold loss on "t". Previous owner's name dated 1915, fore-edges uncut. A very nice copy.

Tarzan of the Apes is a novel written by Edgar Rice Burroughs. It is the first in a series of twenty-four books about the title character Tarzan. Originally published in 1912, the story follows Tarzan as he grows up in the African jungle and discovers his human heritage.
