Putnam's Sons, 1958 First printing of the first American edition, with 1955 as the publication date: black cloth-backed gray patterned boards, spine lettered in gilt, with the red endpapers, and red top-stain, in original first issue jacket without the "Complete Unexpurgated Edition" statement on the front pane and with the original price of $5.00 listed on the inside front flap. Light offsetting along gutters of endpapers, stamp size ghost to bottom back pastedown, spine ends gently pushed, faint wear to covers, bottom tip of back corner rubbed, and faint toning to page margins, else book in fine condition; dust jacket with mild edge wear, toning to spine, and toning/spotting along folds, else fine.

For the first print run by Olympia Press, two volumes were produced. Look for 'The Olympia Press, Paris' on the title page, '1955' on the copyright page, and absence of any further printings mentioned.
