Description

First edition. First printing, with the introduction by Carl Sagan. The other issue points present: grey-blue endpapers, as well as no dedication statement and no table of contents on the copyright page. A fine copy, in an all but fine unclipped dust jacket, just with the tiniest nicks at the corners of the spine. Using non-technical terms, Hawking introduced modern physics to many in the general population. Over 25 million copies of A Brief History of Time have sold to date. The first printing was suppressed at Hawking s request because of misprints and factual errors, and the publisher destroyed the large majority of copies. An excellent surviving example.

About A Brief History of Time

In 'A Brief History of Time', Stephen Hawking attempts to explain a range of subjects in cosmology, including the Big Bang, black holes, and light cones to the non-specialized reader. His goal is to provide an overview of the history, laws, and major theories of the cosmos in a way that is accessible to the general public, without complex mathematical jargon.
