First edition, first issue. xiv, errata sheet, 624pp. (Title page dated 1850; "screamed" for "screwed" error present on p. 132, single quote mark on p. 369.) Very Good bound in 19th century three-quarter dark brown leather binding over marbled boards. Binding rubbed, with leather spine slightly pulled at the crown. Minor rubbing to ends and tips. All edges marbled. Front and rear inner hinges exposed, slightly more tender at the front though binding remains stable. Armorial bookplate of former owner on front pastedown. Foxing and offsetting, primarily to plates and the adjacent pages. The first appearance in book form of Dicken's classic detailing his life from infancy to adulthood.
