London, Dublin, Edinburgh, Paris: Richard Bentley (late of Colburn & Bentley), Cumming, Bell & Bradfute, Galignani, 1833 A very good copy of the 1st single volume edition of Sense and Sensibility. Richard Bentley first published this work as part of his Standard Novels series and it was much reprinted. The original half leather binding has been rebacked relaying most of the spine with small gilt decorated raised bands, decorative compartments and title label. New marbled paper sides have been added and the corners repaired. The endpapers have been retained with professional repair at the joints. Contents: blank; frontispiece; vignette title; title page dated 1833; Memoir pp xv; text arranged in the original 3 volume style pp 1-331; final blank. It lacks the Standard Novels half title page. The binding and contents are in very good clean condition. There is a mark on the fep and a signature from 1875 on the initial blank.
