DESCRIPTION: Complete first edition set of 'The Stones of Venice', a second edition of 'The Seven Lamps of Architecture' and the first three volumes (mixed editions) from Modern Painter. In all seven volumes from the nine volume set (missing volume IV and V from the Painters set) bound in three quarter leather with marbled boards and endpapers. Originally presented to the Basingstoke Mechanics' Institution in 1856 (see presentation plate to front of each volume) and subsequently to Hampshire County Library. Language: English. Book Condition: Fair: Wear to corners, edges and spine ends. Abrasion to leather surface with some loss. Rubbed boards. Tightly bound with firm strong hinges. Cracks to three upper external spine edges. Occasional minor mark or spot to pages. Presentation plate to front paste downs. Missing ffeps. Single small library stamp to publication page and security sticker to rear paste down. A few gatherings to one volume slightly offset. All plates present as prescribed.
